Pattern

The baskets are worked from the bottom upwards.

Keep your tension fairly firm.

Step 1 – Make the Magic Ring

Create a magic ring.

Round 1: Work 6 sc into MR. (6)

Pull the ring closed.

Place a stitch marker into the first stitch.

Work continuously in a spiral unless otherwise stated.

Step 2 – Crochet the Circular Base

Round 2: Inc in every stitch around. (12)

Round 3: 1 sc, inc. Repeat around. (18)

Round 4: 2 sc, inc. Repeat around. (24)

Round 5: 3 sc, inc. Repeat around. (30)

Round 6: 4 sc, inc. Repeat around. (36)

At this point you have the base for the small basket.

Small Basket

Base

Use Rounds 1–6 above.

You should have 36 stitches.

Step 3 – Turn the Base Into the Walls

Work 1 sc BLO in every stitch around. (36)

Working into the back loops creates a defined edge between the base and sides.

Step 4 – Build the Basket Walls

Continue working:

1 sc in every stitch around. (36)

Repeat until the sides measure approximately 6.5–7 cm from the base.

For a subtle textured finish, you can alternate regular sc rounds with BLO sc rounds.

Step 5 – Finish the Rim

Work 1 round of slip stitches loosely around the top.

Fasten off and weave in the ends.

Finished size: approximately 10 cm × 7.5 cm.

Medium Basket

Start again with a Magic Ring and work Rounds 1–6.

Continue increasing:

Round 7: 5 sc, inc. Repeat around. (42)

Round 8: 6 sc, inc. Repeat around. (48)

You now have the medium base.

Create the Sides

Work 1 sc BLO in each stitch around. (48)

Continue with 1 sc in every stitch until the walls measure approximately 8–8.5 cm.

Finish

Work one loose round of slip stitches around the rim.

Fasten off and weave in the ends.

Finished size: approximately 13 cm × 9 cm.

Large Basket

Start again with Rounds 1–8.

Continue:

Round 9: 7 sc, inc. Repeat around. (54)

Round 10: 8 sc, inc. Repeat around. (60)

Create the Sides

Work 1 sc BLO in each stitch around. (60)

Continue working 1 sc in each stitch around until the walls measure approximately 9–9.5 cm.

Finish the Rim

Work one loose round of slip stitches around the top.

Fasten off.

Weave in all ends.

Finished size: approximately 16 cm × 10 cm.

Optional Textured Walls

If we want the baskets to look more like the beautiful chunky textured baskets in your reference, I would use this version for the app.

After completing the BLO transition round, alternate:

Round A: Hdc around.

Round B: Hdc BLO around.

Repeat A and B until the basket reaches the required height.

This creates visible horizontal texture while keeping the construction beginner-friendly.

Important: Don't add or remove stitches while working the walls. The stitch count should remain constant so the sides rise vertically instead of flaring outward.

Optional Leather Tab

Cut a small piece of faux leather approximately 2 cm × 5 cm.

Fold it over the finished rim of the large basket.

Using strong thread or matching yarn, stitch securely through both layers of the tab.

This is decorative rather than a weight-bearing handle.

Optional Tassel

Cut several pieces of yarn approximately 10–12 cm long.

Bundle them together and tie securely near the top.

Fold the bundle in half and wrap another piece of yarn several times around the top to create the tassel head.

Trim the bottom evenly.

Attach it to the side of one basket.

Finishing

Shape each basket gently with your hands.

If your cotton yarn allows it, lightly dampen the baskets and shape them over appropriately sized bowls or containers.

Allow them to dry completely before removing the forms.

The large, medium and small baskets should then nest neatly inside one another.

Care

Hand wash gently in cool water.

Do not wring.

Reshape while damp and allow to air dry.

Avoid tumble drying because this can distort the basket shape.
